Catch a Shoplifter
1. If you spot a shoplifter remain still. If you are carrying a camera, slowly retrieve it, use the digital zoom setting, and take as many photos at the highest resolution possible. The thief will likely flee quickly once it is aware of your presence.
2. Do not pursue the thief, as he/she may behave unpredictably if chased.
3. Take note of the thief’s physical and behavioral traits, including height, smell, and speed and posture of movement.
4. Photograph any items left behind with orange cones and safety tape.
5. Call the authorities.
6. Go somewhere quiet and prepare your report. Leave nothing out. The authorities will appreciate your hard work.
