Load it up thick with grease. Spread motor oil, butter, chain saw grease, WD40, or other greasy substance on the part of the hand that is accessible. Use sparingly.
Swiftly pull with jerky, firm pressure. Tuck the jar under your arm or have a person hold the jar as you pull.
Lower the hand and jar in ice water. The combination of the greased hand and the cold, which reduces swelling, may release the hand.
Raise the hand high above your head (while standing on tip-toes). Elevate the hand (and jar) for forty-five minutes to reduce swelling.
Try to slide out the hand to break the vacuum seal.
Break the jar. It is a good idea to shatter the jar by hitting it hard with a hammer.
Clean up the broken glass and tend to the wounds (from the broken glass).
